Project Opportunities

Honours projects at Melbourne will be offered next year to students with appropriate interests and a Geology, Physics, or Engineering background. See Lindsay Thomas for more details.

Staff at the Victorian Institute of Earth and Planetary Sciences, of which The University of Melbourne School of Earth Sciences is a partner, offer Honours and postgraduate project opportunities in a variety of geophysical and geological fields. Consult the VIEPS website for leads to staff and project information.

Field Camp

A field camp for hands-on experience with geophysical equipment possibly will be run during the semester break, or after the examination period in November. This camp is usually run in conjunction with Monash University, and occupies about five days.
If the camp is scheduled in 2000, an announcement will be made during the semester. It will be a prerequisite for Honours in Geophysics at Melbourne, and will be part of the work requirement.
