The Noble Gas Laboratory in the School of Earth Sciences at Melbourne University accommodates three noble gas mass spectrometers for 40Ar/39Ar geochronology and noble gas geochemistry. A quadrapole system for He analysis and U-Th-He dating is also available.

Laboratory instrumentation includes:

a new Micromass 5400 mass spectrometer,

a MAP 215-50 system, recently purchased from New Zealand and

a 3600 mass spectrometer which was formerly located at LaTrobe University.

The laboratory possesses facilities for furnace and laser probe noble gas analysis and is in the process of setting up state-of-the art laser facilities for in situ micro-analytical analysis.
