Isotope and Trace element Geochemistry

An ability to determine accurately the elemental and isotopic compositions of rocks, minerals, soils and waters is central to our understanding of the processes that have formed, and continuously modify the Earth. Armed with these tools it is possible to address a wide range of fundamental questions from the migration of continents, and the timing of events resulting in mountain-building and ore genesis, to the nature of climate change in the remote past. In brief, geochemical studies help us to unravel the history of our dynamic planet. Members of our group share a common passion for geochemistry-based research, employing state-of-the-art analytical approaches.
