Janet Hergt

Janet undertook her undergraduate studies at La Trobe University, and her PhD at the Australian National University in the Research School of Earth Sciences. She has conducted research in isotope and trace element laboratories at the Australian National University, The Open University, and the University of Melbourne. Janet has previously served as Associate Dean (Academic Programs) in the Faculty of Science, and is currently Head of School.

Janet’s research centres upon the application of trace element and isotope analysis to problems in the Earth Sciences. She has an interest in the development and application of new analytical methodologies, particularly to questions relating to the petrogenesis of igneous rocks, but also extended to new geochronological techniques.
