Australian and New Zealand Applicants

International Applications
Application forms are available from the International Centre at The University of Melbourne (http://www.unimelb.edu.au/international/,ph: +61 3 9344 4505, fax: +61 3 9347 4504). The University of Melbourne International Students Postgraduate Prospectus for 1999 includes all application details and application forms. Eligibility for admission to a course is based on the academic prerequisites as detailed in this guide, and satisfactory completion of the Faculty's English Language Requirements.
International students must undertake full-time study (with a minimum of 75% of a full-time load). Northern hemisphere applicants should note that the academic year in Australia commences in February/March and ends in December. Mid-year commencement may be possible.
Closing Dates
Australian and New Zealand Students: 10 January 1999 and 1 June 1999
International Students: 31 December, 1998.
Late applications must be approved by the Science Faculty.
Transcripts
All applications must be supported by a complete, official transcript of academic record (copies may be submitted with the application form but the original documentation must be presented before enrolment may occur). Applicants should also ensure that an explanation of the grading system accompanies their transcripts. If the documents are not in English, a certified translation must also be included with the application form, and if there has been a change of name, a marriage certificate or other official evidence must be produced. Details of courses undertaken at The University of Melbourne are not required because we have access to your University of Melbourne records. Notification of the outcome of your application will be within three weeks of the closing date.
Enrolment Changes
All requests to change enrolment details (ie. change of subjects, sick/personal leave, extensions, or special considerations, etc.) must be signed by your Coordinator and submitted to the the Faculty of Science Office for approval.
Grade Requirements
Students should consult the Faculty of Science Postgraduate Prospectus for information concerning the required passmark for each subject.
