Victorian May maximum temperature records

The records below are collated from the Bureau's digital archives. These, in general, cover the period from 1957 to the present (except for those stations which were not yet open in 1957). Exceptions to this include Mildura (1946) , East Sale and Laverton (1943), and Melbourne (1855).

All observations from the vicinity of the site concerned are included; for example, the listing for Ararat is the highest reading at either the post office (before 1969) or the prison (after 1969), without adjustment.

The highest known May reading in Victoria is 30.0, on 6 May 1967 at Walpeup. This is supported by the fact that press reports referred to the 29.2 at Geelong the previous day as a state record, but the basis for these reports is not known.
