I lead a research program in atmospheric dynamics, with particular emphasis on the mesoscale. Using numerical modelling and observations, we study:

  • Numerical weather prediction
  • Atmospheric gravity waves
  • Turbulence with application to the aviation industry
  • Mixing and transport across the tropopause
  • Orographic precipitation
  • Tropical cloud processes
  • Fire weather
  • Other problems in mesoscale dynamics

Ongoing work on these topics will eventually lead to an improved understanding of high-impact weather and better models for predicting weather and climate.

I am currently supported by an Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellowship and I am a Chief Investigator of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate System Science (website here).
