I lead a research program in atmospheric dynamics, with particular emphasis on the mesoscale. Using numerical modelling and observations, we study:
Numerical weather prediction
Atmospheric gravity waves
Turbulence with application to the aviation industry
Mixing and transport across the tropopause
Orographic precipitation
Tropical cloud processes
Fire weather
Other problems in mesoscale dynamics
Ongoing work on these topics will eventually lead to an improved understanding of high-impact weather and better models for predicting weather and climate.
I am currently supported by an Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellowship and I am a Chief Investigator of the ARC Centre of Excellence for Climate System Science (website here).
